Mykola Tomenko: National Bank of Ukraine Council should interfere into the Situation regarding Wages of its Chairmen
M. Tomenko declared that according to the Law "On National bank of Ukraine", National Bank Council adopts budget of NBU incomes and report on its implementation. In his appeal, M. Tomenko asked NBU Council check the facts regarding the increase of the highest MBU leaders´ salaries.
As it is known, recently in mass media the materials were published regarding the facts that during the last year the salaries of the NBU salaries considerably increased
The Vice-Chairman emphasized that in this context one should remind the following:
- according to the Law "On the State Budget of Ukraine for the Year 23009" expenses on the state public officials were decreased in 10%;
- from March of the current year the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the Resolution ":On Measures regarding the ordering of separate expenses of the State Budget of Ukraine", according to which the salaries of the leaders of the country were reduced in two times;
- for the implementation of this direction, the Cabinet of Ministers by the Resolution from 18 March 2009 №240 in two times reduced the salaries of the Prime Minister, Vice-Prime Ministers and all the Ministers of Ukraine;
- in elaborated by the Government bill of the Budget for the year 2010, it is planned that the salaries of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine should be reduced in two times.
M. Tomenko supposes that the leaders of the National Bank of Ukraine that are about to retire on pension, increases salaries in order to receive pension at the rate 80%.
M. Tomenko deems the decision to increase the salaries for the National Bank of Ukraine Chairmen "is not only not ethical but not ethical cubed. It is rather symbolical, that the NBU leaders increased their salaries exactly in the quantity of times equal to the quantity of times they lessened the national currency".
